Taste of Bordeaux

                                                           November 16, 2017-  November 23, 2017

Wine Lovers unite.....once again, we have an opportunity to join together all of our passions:  Food, Wine & Travel!

In the corner of southwestern France, the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers merge together to form the Gironde Estuary that naturally divides the famous Bordeaux region into Left and Right Banks.  The "Taste of Bordeaux" itinerary takes you to experience the most impressive wine growing areas and their signature blends.

Bordeaux is the largest controlled wine region in France, made up of several sub-regions.  Each sub-region has its own strictly governed appellation, unique climate and terroir that define it.  Unlike most wines around the world, the quality of Bordeaux wine is determined by these factors rather than the GRAPE varietal.  Producers combine many grape types together to create food-loving BLENDS.  While Bordeaux is acclaimed for its legendary red BLENDS, the small percentage of white blends from this region also make a big impression.  BLENDS, BLENDS, BLENDS!!!!   When you take a look at the wine labels here, something seems to be missing-  the type of grape.  That's because, in Bordeaux, blends rule the world and the grapes themselves are not as important as the region!

We start in Paris.....depending on your needs, wants and desires, 2-3 days {or more}.  High speed train to Bordeaux, and board the AmaDolce for a 7 day sailing down the Garonne, Dordogne rivers and the Gironde estuaries.  We will enjoy tastings of some of the regions most distinguished wines, along with food pairings by Ama's award winning master chefs, featuring regionally-inspired dishes served with free-flowing wine and beer...ALL menus including expertly suggested wine pairing.

PLUS......{and for those of you who have sailed with us down the Seine and most recently the Rhone....you will most agreeably attest to this}  Once again we are so excited to have Mr. Preston Mohr, Wine Expert, IWS, WSET, owner of PARIS BY THE GLASS, as our on board wine host, lecturer and "wine" guide to this exciting region.  Check out his website:  www.parisbytheglass.com. ; For those staying a few days in Paris either Pre- or Post, we highly recommend his list of recommended restaurants/bistros for your best dining/wining experience in the "City of Light".  His inside knowledge of the wines and gastronomic experiences of these regions will definitely MAKE your stay, without breaking the bank.  Check him out on facebook also:  Paris by the Glass

We finish in the Loire Valley.  Again, depending on people's needs, wants and desires, those wishing to stay a little longer, we can arrange for lodging and train/airfare.  Also, those wishing to train back to Paris.....lodging and transportation can be arranged as well.
