                                               in Romantic Paris, The "City of Light"

Many of you joined us a couple of years ago on the wine hosted cruise out of Paris.  This time,
we'll be sailing out of Paris, again aboard the AmaLegro.....with the focus being ART, as well as wine.

We're pleased to announce that as your Art Host {or, hostess, in this case} is fellow Arrivederci
Int'l Yacht Club member, Tracie Broughton.  To check some of Tracie's own creations go to:

Many of you have probably participated in some of the local "sip & paint" nights being offered throughout the city.  What better place to create your own masterpiece, than sailing down the picturesque River Seine through villages and harbors immortalized by generations of famous artists.  All painting materials will be provided and you'll get to take your "masterpiece"  home as a one-of-a-kind souvenir!  C'est Vrais!

First day - Paris:   Embarkation & Welcome Dinner - An evening cruise past the Eiffel tower on the sail-away out of Paris.

Day 2:  Vernon {free time}
            Excursion to Monet's home and gardens in Giverny

Day 3:  Caudebec-en-Caux-  After a scenic morning cruise, we arrive in the old fishing village of Caudebec-en-Caux.  You will be able to choose from two different tours.  The first option is to visit Honfleur, a historic and picturesque port with pastel-colored houses that was a favorite subject of artists such as Courbet, Boudin and Monet.

Your 2nd option is the "Routes des Abbayes" excursion spotlighting Normandy's famous Abbeys, more than 100 of which once covered this region.  You will visit the ruined abbey in Jumieges as well as St. Wandrill, still a working monastery.

Day 4:  You will have the choice of three different excursions:  "D-Day Remembered" is a full day
excursion to the US sector.  Your first stop will be the village of Arromanches, where the remains of the floating harbor used during the WWII landings can be seen.  You will have free time to see the museums before visiting the US Cemetery and Omaha Beach at St. Laurent-sur-Mer.  The last stop is the artillery battery at Longues-sur-Mer before returning to the ship in Rouen.

       As an alternative, you can tour the Gold and Juno beaches in the British and Canadian sectors.  Your first stop will be the Pegasus Monument in Ranville, followed by Canadian cemetery at Beny-sur-Mer.  A third option is an excursion to rural Normandy, which includes a visit to the Pays d'Auge and "Routes du Cidre" {Road of Cider}

Day 5:  Rouen....Enjoy a morning walk through the medieval city of Rouen and see the imposing Notre Dame Cathedral, painted numerous times by Monet, and the square where Joan of Arc was martyred.  Great restaurants, great shopping.....GREAT STOP!!

Day 6:  We depart Rouen on this day and enjoy scenic cruising on the Seine to Les Andelys.  A walk along the river in Les Andelys offers beautiful views of the Seine Valley's dramatic white cliffs, centuries-old half-timbered houses, and the hilltop ruins of Chateau Gillard.  This former stronghold of Richard the Lionheart changed hands a number of times during the Hundred Years' War.  For those so inclined, you may enjoy hiking up to visit the ruins of this historic castle before sailing on to Conflans.

Day 7:  You have a choice of two excursions.  The first option is to visit Chateau Malmaison, former home of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and his wife Josephine.  Also, you can travel to Auvers-sur-Oise, a town famous for the impressionist painters who lived there in the 19th century, such as Paul Cezanne and Camille Pissarro.  Your "Artists Walk" tour will include many sites associated with their work, including the Auberge Ravoux, former homes of Vincent van Gogh.   The upstairs room where Van Gogh died has been meticulously preserved.  The ship will then depart in the afternoon for Paris.

On a AMA river cruise, everything is included.  ALL excursions are included.  Unlimited beer and wine at lunch and dinner.....INCLUDED!  {Sparkling included at breakfast}   Internet....INCLUDED.  On an AMA cruise you're considered a "traveler", not a "tourist".  There are 40 bicycles onboard should you choose to "ride/pedal" through villages, markets and vineyards....INCLUDED!

AmaWaterways is the only river cruise line ever inducted into La Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, a prestigious international gastronomic society dedicated to fine cuisine.  Founded in Paris in 1950 to honor the royal Guild of Goose Roasters (whose origins date back to the 13th century), it is the oldest and largest food and wine society in the world.    Membership to La Chaine des Rotisseurs is by invitation only and is extended to those possessing world-class culinary acumen.

"The food and service is what most passengers remember after their cruise, because this company spends more on food and wine than most."  Douglas Ward, BERLITZ RIVER CRUISING IN EUROPE
